About me

I have been doing a lot of soul searching in the last few months and really trying to be honest with myself.  I've also been getting to know myself better.  However, it seems often in a lot of ways other people know us better than we know ourselves, so it is my turn to ask for your help.  What would you like to tell me about me, about who I am or what makes me tick?

  1. I’ve said a lot of things to you, about you, here already, Danielle. Some of those things I think you’ve heard and others, not so much; but that’s okay, because this search belongs to you.

I think you don’t give yourself half the chance you deserve. Nobody is harder on you than you. Beneath the facade, the wall of smiles, is a scared girl. Am I projecting? Maybe but I think not.

You can’t control everything, Danielle. Let go of those fears. Live your life. I think you’ve painted a “could’ve been” life that no other life can ever compete with. Could’ve beens are perfect. But life is messy. As the A-ha song goes, “The sun always shines on TV.”

There’s a pretty wonderful person inside there. There’s a flower leaning toward the sun. Give yourself a chance. Take your chance, Danielle. I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines. I want to be happy for you.

  2. So Anonymous, let me ask you a couple of questions, ok, maybe a few. What exactly would that look like for you, what kind of behaviour would you observe? What would convince you? I ask because I am doing all of those things, so I am curious to know what would be different for you.

  3. That’s pretty convincing right there, Danielle – to stand your ground. You should stand your ground. If it were up to me, I’d like to hear just once that you’re happy or satisfied or that life’s treating you well. But you’ve already made that clear in a subsequent post (I thought). I replied that I’m absolutely thrilled for you and I meant it. I really meant it.

This is always the difficulty with text. 90% of communication is body language. Well, it is what it is.

But what does it matter what I think, really? At the end of the day, the only person whose opinion matters is you (and I’m not just saying that to deflect your challenge but to state the blatantly obvious).
